Numerous children from different areas suffer
poliomyelitis. If not treated fast, this will impair the chance of the
child to have a normal life and limit his abilities and skills to a greater
future. With this notion, GlaxoSmithKlein Pharmaceuticals generously
donated to Springboard Foundation several anti-polio vaccines, which were
disbursed to our beneficiaries namely: Hope Worldwide, Gat Andres
Hospital, Dr. Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, Ospital ng Maynila and
Dr. Jose Fabella Hospital. The vaccines immensely changed the lives of the
children, as they are now free from the harm and disadvantage of
poliomyelitis. Parents are now worry-free and confident that their children
could now have no limit in developing their skills for a brighter future.

Dr. Jose Fabella Hospital is a government hospital, which
mostly deals with maternity concerns, infants and children. Due to
insufficient fund of the hospital, some of the dilapidated rooms are still
being utilized. In this light, Springboard Foundation found it necessary to
renovate one of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Wards at Dr. Fabella
Hospital, particularly Room No. 5. Robert Bosch, Inc. munificently
sponsored the renovation that made a huge impact to the children being
served in that ward. Currently, the newly renovated ward can accommodate
approximately 20 patients. From a feeble ward with chipped tiles and worn
out paint to a newly renovated ward with cleaner air and fresher ambiance,
parents are now confident that their children will be cared for with optimum
quality.

of two college students at Technological Institute of the
Philippines. The grant was used to fund the full tuition fee for one
semester of our Business Administration student including miscellaneous
fees, and the down payment for the tuition fee of our Computer Science
student for one semester. Both scholars are grateful to have been given the
opportunity to continue their studies and fulfill their dreams. Without

Springboard Foundation supported the ‘Night
High School Program’ of A Better Chance Foundation which main goal is to
rescue and prevent dropouts among the poor. Last school year, 400,000 boys
and girls dropped out of Philippine schools usually in grades 4, 5 and 6.
In this light, ABC Foundation proposed 6 students of Night High
School class for SY 206-2007 at Siena College in Quezon City. All scholars
are taken from public school 6th grade graduates. Those who pass
the Siena College entrance exam, interview and home visit to verify the
family’s economic standing as poor then qualify to study from 3:30 to 9:00
PM in a 5-year course leading to a high school diploma. The grant includes
all classes, all activities, uniforms and miscellaneous expenses. Not only
are we catching these children as they drop out or in most cases, preventing
them from dropping out, but also giving them the hope that with proper
education, better quality of life is easier to achieve.

are utilizing the donated baby furniture. Caring for these children has
been much easier and convenient now that these items have been donated. The
high chairs were deemed necessary in proper feeding of the toddlers; walkers
portray a vital role in the development of a child’s mobility; the cribs
serve as comfortable haven for the children after a whole day’s play.

Most of the government hospitals served by
Give A Life Foundation forwarded a proposal of cancer medicines and
antibiotics for the treatment of patients who could not afford such
expensive medicines. Springboard Foundation provided the fund to purchase
these medicines which were then distributed accordingly to the hospitals –
Dr. Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, Dr. Jose Fabella Hospital,
Ospital ng Maynila, Amang Rodriguez Medical Center, San Lazaro Hospital,
amongst many others. As per report forwarded to us by the hospitals,
generally, mortality rates have significantly decreased due to the proper
and sufficient medication given.

Regular classes at Jesus Loves the Little
Children Learning Center started June 5 and for a good jump-start,
Springboard Foundation sponsored the educational materials of 75 students of
JLLC Learning Center. Each student received 2 sets of school & P.E.
uniforms, assorted school supplies, school bag ad socks. Children woke up
early to attend the opening of regular classes for nursery, kinder and
preparatory, and the in-house school for elementary and high school. It was
indeed a long and busy day for everyone especially the teachers. In order
to have a good lead for the children in their learning, Springboard
Foundation thought it would be an advantage for the children if they are in
well shape, free from dental problems and as healthy as can be. Therefore,
Springboard Foundation provided medical (x-ray) and dental support to 25
children and funded a 60-day food budget for 25 students. The students are
more excited and enthusiastic as ever now that all they have to do is study
for a better future and the rest is A-Ok.

to have strollers and baby tubs, which were given on June 2006. The
volunteers from the institution were in high spirits as now they could walk
these children with ease using the strollers and the tubs made it suitable
for the volunteers in keeping the children clean and healthy.

This institution cares for children suffering
from tuberculosis and malnutrition. Most of the children only have the
facility to see everyday, but with the strollers given to them, going out of
the room or the facility was no longer a problem. These children can now
get to see their surroundings as often as they like, anytime they want with
no difficulty.

Kalayaan Elementary School is a child-friendly school, which
accommodates over 4000 pupils. The school has long wanted to provide its
pupils the opportunity to be computer literates so as to cope up with the
currently modernized educational system. In this lieu, a generous company
sponsored the materials in refurbishing a computer laboratory. Included in
this donation were the painting works on the walls, ceilings, door and mural
painting, electrical works, glass windows, computer chairs and tables, white
boards, 1.5Hp air conditioning unit, lockset, Venetian blinds, 10 Intel
